SAMAS
Say’wan Academy of Mystical Arts and Sciences
SAMAS represents the pinnacle of higher learning within the Say’wan Realm, drawing gifted students from every nation. Admission is not guaranteed by birth, wealth, or title. It is determined by aptitude, endurance, and alignment with the laws that govern the elements, knowledge, and power.
Before consideration, all candidates must complete foundational education at their nation’s Preparatory Schools. These institutions ensure mastery of essential disciplines shaped by each nation’s environment, culture, and elemental tradition.
Each year, eligible households across the realm submit their children for consideration. Names are reviewed long before arrival, weighed by the representatives of each nation, and spoken aloud during the Eligibility Review that marks the beginning of the academic cycle.
Selection to SAMAS is rare. Each nation is granted an equal and limited number of admissions per cycle, preserving balance across the realm and preventing dominance by any single power. Many who qualify are never called. Those accepted are assigned to one of three Orders: Preservation, Advancement, or Dominion. Revealed only once a Veil Circlet is placed. Each Order safeguards a different pillar of the realm’s future.
Assignment is not ceremonial alone. It is binding, and from the moment a student’s Veil Circlet is set, access, instruction, and authority are shaped by the Order to which they are called.
After arrival, each student is guided toward a Pathway of study aligned with their abilities and the needs of the realm, revealed through methods the academy does not publish and recorded in archives not meant for public reading. Some receive what they expect. Others do not.
SAMAS exists to ensure balance across the realm, not comfort, not ambition, and never certainty. Those who pass through its gates leave with skill, restraint, and obligation. What they do with that knowledge is no longer the academy’s choice.
